Have to Press the Back Button 3 Times
After having IE9 installed for a few days, I dislike that I have to click the Back button 2, 3, sometimes 4 times before the browser finally does go back to the previous page.
Right click the back arrow.

That's an option, but not the way it's supposed to work.

Try this:
Right click on either the Back or Foward button or click and hold on either one.
Top right on your page, press the View Favorites Star, with Favorites open, look at the top left, See the green arrow pointing left, Click it.

Not the way it's supposed to work. Not an answer :-(
Top right on your page, press the View Favorites Star, with Favorites open, look at the top left, See the green arrow pointing left, Click it.
Same thing as CTRL+SHIFT+I. Not what I'm looking for. I want the drop down to be on the left, not pin the Favorites pane to the left.

I have all of the same problems and have used the Fix It, cleared/reset the SSL, re-installed IE9, and a few other solutions that have been suggested.
This problem has been going on for quite some time. I see SC Tom wrote his delima June 15, 2011. WOW, Microsoft. Don't you think it's about time to fix this very annoying problem. It's pretty evident you don't give a damn. Are you happy now? I don't normally use profanity.
Hey everybody, I haven't found this problem with Google Chrome.

This happens on pages with banners that have links to promotional material. For every banner on the page you get a hit on the list of previously visited sites. You can see the list if you click and hold the back button. Then you can also click on the page you actually want to go back to. I guess the owner of the page gets click ticks from the banner owners for each back button click.
It's a nuisance and I have clicked on the Me Too button by your post.

OK, there is a better Microsoft Forum for this, and the sign up is easy since you're already a microsoft member.
It is called The Microsoft Internet Explorer Feedback Program used to report bugs. They show open and closed tickets, and this one is recently and still open. Please try to have examples of these links and screen shots & try to give an example of a particular web page it occurs on.
GO TO:
https://connect.microsoft.com/IE
In the SEARCH - Feedback field, enter "back button problem" and select it from the list
Your comment should be entered with a detailed explanation and some examples, then click on submit. Next you should click on the "attachments" tab and upload any screenshots of this and then click submit.
It's up to us to overhwelm them with evidence!
