If I could give this 10 stars, I would. My kids LOVED this. The only reason this recipe doesn't have a solid five star rating is because some people used red pepper sauce instead of CHILI sauce. Await for "CHILI sauce" near the ketchup. Hint: the ingredient is labelled "Chili Sauce". I added sliced onions and 1/2 tsp of blackness pepper to increment the season, just it doesn't need that. Serve with mashed potatoes, green beans and a salad.

I have eaten brisket made this way since I was a lilliputian daughter. The only thing my family did was add sliced mushrooms to the residue of the ingrediets. On Jewish holidays Mom would add together a kishke to cook in the pot during the terminal hr or then. YUMMY! Your Cousin's legacy certainly lives on. As well merely a note to y'all non familiar with brisket. Brisket and corned beefiness are not the same thing, although a corned beef is made out of a brisket of beef. Corned beef has been cured, or "pickled" earlier information technology is cooked - and has a very distinct taste all its own. The Guiness rcipe on this site is wonderful for corned beefiness. However the BRISKET chosen for here is merely the plain cut of beef. I tin can't imagine what a horrible mess this recipe would exist if you used a corned beef............

I needed a brisket recipe that I could do in the crock pot...limited oven space! The season was practiced, and the meat was very, very tender. I cooked the brisket overnight, refrigerated during the day, then sliced information technology, poured the sauce on superlative and reheated it (covered) in the oven before serving. I volition brand all my briskets in the crock pot from at present on!
09/27/2006
Very good. My husband loved it. I served it with carrots and potatoes. I had the chili sauce only didn't take any onion soup mix and then in a pinch, I substituted brown gravy mix and added my own sliced onions. The beef was very tender and the gravy was delicious. Because I used the brownish gravy mix, I didn't have to thicken the sauce. Information technology did that on it's own. This one's a keeper.
03/20/2006
This is a succulent & simple recipe. My brisket was about one & a half pounds, then I only used one jar of chili sauce. I cooked information technology for ten hours, and it was fantastic. The leftovers were good also. Cheers for sharing.
04/06/2004
This was very good, just I just used 1 bottle of chili sauce, because that's all I had on manus. I am not sure we would take liked information technology with both bottles. There was plenty of gravy for the mashed potatoes even without the additional chili sauce. Salad, Crusty bread and salad forth with the potatoes and you have a dandy like shooting fish in a barrel meal.

Neat Recipe!!!! Be sure to apply Heinz Chili Sauce. Simple, piece of cake few ingredients. Thanks Cousin David!!
12/15/2007
I am making this for the 2d time! This was a cracking dish to brand ahead of time for a political party-- I sliced up the brisket after it cooked - along with the sauce - so showed up to the party with a basket of rolls so as an appetizer - you could take the modest rolls and put the brisket on them. Everyone loved this dish - and when the brisket was gone some were but dipping leftover rolls in the remaining sauce! Very tasty and Easy!!!
03/24/2008
This recipe was excellent! My family really enjoyed it. The meat was tender and fell autonomously nicely! The only affair I did differently was I added 1/4 cup of chocolate-brown sugar to make the gravy a bit sweeter. I added fresh mushrooms ,and onions and then served information technology over extra broad noodles yummy! Cheers for a nifty recipe. I volition make this again for Passover this yr!

Made this yesterday, after reading a lot of the reviews I made the following changes; added more garlic, splash of worchester sauce, blackness pepper, used one canteen of Heinz chili sauce. I sliced 1 xanthous onion and placed it on the bottom of the crockpot, put my briskit in, poured three/iv bottle of ale in, so poured on the chili sauce mixture, finally topped with a big handful of sliced mushrooms. My boyfriend and I really liked this dish. Served with garlic mashed potatoes & green beans. Sooo good. Thanks Dorothy for sharing your cousin David's recipe.
01/14/2010
The first time I fabricated this I did not similar it at all. It took a lot of brown sugar but to brand it edible. The taste was too vinegar-y for me. However, I decided to try again and used one-half bbq sauce and one-half chili sauce and again added chocolate-brown sugar; and the second time I idea it turn out really skilful.
09/04/2010
This was so crawly -- wow. I did add some brown sugar, maybe 2 T. Merely remember that you demand to make the sauce to your liking before you start cooking. If you don't like it at the start, y'all probably won't like it at the finish. Tweak it until you are happy. By nine hours on low, mine was spectacluar. If you remember two bottles of the chili sauce will be besides tart for yous, use 1 bottle chili sauce so mayhap 12 oz tomato plant juice or evidently tomato sauce. Tweak, tweak, tweak until information technology's perfect, *then* fire upwards the slow cooker! The sauce was sooo good sopped up with staff of life. Yummers!
12/06/2010
I've made this several times Beloved it!! I take also given this to several friends that have too passed to others.. Highly recommend..I take not changed anything in this recipe except the size of the brisket
12/12/2009
This is a lot similar the receipe we e'er use.We got it from East&M Provisions, my favorite butcher in Skokie IL Now I accept to try yours in the tiresome cooker. Especially the tip near calculation the Kishkie Here is the old one East & M Provisions serves 10 6 pounds beef brisket 2 I package onion soup mix 2 onion, sliced 2 bottled chili sauce 2 cups h2o Serving Ideas: You tin can add peeled and quartered potatoes top cook with the roast for the last 60 minutes 1. Place brisket in roasting pan fat side up two. Sprinkle on onion soup mix iii. Garnish with onion slices four. Cascade on Chili sauce 5. Add together loving cup of h2o half-dozen. Roast for almost 3 hours 7. Remove from pan and piece accross grain.

This was really delicious, but, wow, is fresh brisket expensive in my area (Maine). Since my son hates a strong onion flavor, I followed another member's suggestion and mixed my chili sauce w/a package of Knorr brown gravy mix and put sliced onions nether the brisket. I cooked for at least 10 hours on low and at that point, the meat isn't actually sliceable, so much as "chunkable." We really loved the season -- the meat just melted in your mouth, and the chili sauce gravy was simply delicious. I will brand this again when brisket is on sale.
05/28/2011
Simply DELICIOUS! DON'T Modify A Affair IN THIS RECIPE, IT IS Merely PERFECT THE Fashion Information technology IS. TOO MANY PEOPLE RECREATE RECIPES ON THIS WEBSITE, IT IS NOT NECESSARY. KEEP IT Elementary!
05/09/2010
This is a terrific recipe! My family unit went crazy over it. It doesn't become much easier than this, either. The confusion over the ratings on this, I believe are over the people who used a corned beef brisket. You must use a regular beef brisket and you lot will not be disappointed. I followed the directions to the letter. I was concerned for awhile that the gravy was too thick and might burn, only all went well. Mashed potatoes go so dainty with this recipe so yous tin can put that yummy gravy to skillful apply. This recipe is a great comfort food addition to any recipe box and I volition exist making this one over again. My family unit is insisting on it-lol. Thanks for posting it! Super easy and tasty is a winning combination.

Am looking forward to making this again this year for Christmas dinner! This time I will double the recipe..it was And then good concluding time there were absolutely NO leftovers! Did non alter a thing..needs no modification in my opinion!
12/18/2009
This WONDERFUL easy recipe gave me the opportunity to recreate an oven-barbequed beef brisket recipe I had quite a few years ago. All I did was take this recipe every bit written and added two additional ingredients to the chili sauce: one/two cup of grape jelly and about 2 Tablespoons of brown sugar; too left out the onion soup mix and added a large sliced onion (placed nether the brisket). I tin't even begin to draw how delicious, juicy, and tender this brisket turned out. This is without a doubt the best beef dinner I've had in years! Thanks to Cousin David for this recipe!
10/24/2011
omgosh bgosh, Cuzzie David, this was the admittedly best style to brand brisket I have e'er tried and I've been making this for years. My husband even said how succulent it was and had 2nds and would have had 3rds if I didnt want some for myself. I eyed the chili sauce, but the more than the amend. Thanks for this amazing idea. May endeavor this sauce with pot roast. yummmmmm
09/23/2011
Delicious. Used a homemade dry onion soup mix from this site. Also used simply one bottle of chili sauce because I was using a 2 lb cut of brisket.
12/12/2009
I've made this for years. It's a corking recipe.
11/10/2009
I tried this recipe for the first fourth dimension ever cooking brisket and using this recipe was not skilful at all. It tasted besides sweet and katchupy at the same time. I asked my sister how I should fix it and i emptyed everything out of the crockpot and rinced off the brisket and just used the onion soup recipe and added some carrots. I need to observe someone that cooks brisket every year for passover for the perfect meal! Lamentable
xi/21/2010
This was a fantastic dish! I also cut three onions, 3 carrots, and two reddish potatoes into one-inch chunks and put them on the bottom of the crockpot before putting the meat in. (I skipped the onion soup mix, and added 2 tablespoons brown sugar and a teaspoon of chile pepper.) I cooked information technology for virtually xi hours. The vegetables were fork tender, and the brisket was perfectly done. It was all and so easy, and my friends now think I know how to cook.
x/xiv/2009
I made this recipe as is except I used two tri tip cuts of beef considering that was all I had on hand and it turned out perfectly!! The smell that greeted us when we walked through the door from a long hard day was revitalizing, we couldn't wait to dig in and information technology was absolutely succulent, I recommend serving it with mashed potatoes. thanks for submitting this one!!
12/12/2009
I have been making this recipe for 30 years (courtesy of a friend of mine). The only deviation is that I use a can of Coke (or Nutrition Coke) forth with the Lipton Onion Soup Mix and Heinz Chili Sauce. Everyone loves it!!!
10/01/2011
Not as good as my oven roasted brisket merely certainly easy to brand. For those who are not familiar with brisket; slice confronting the grain and you lot will have overnice tender slices. Also, I put onions, carrots and celery on the bottom of the cooker. When done, I put all the juices and vegetables in a blender and puree. Information technology makes a wonderful natural vegetable gravy.
07/xv/2012
Would not brand again. This sauce just was not what we like.
02/14/2009
This turned out soo good. I did the recipe as follows, except I poured three bottles of guinness stout and two bottles of Sweet Baby Ray'south BBQ sauce in my slow cooker, which is very large. I sliced 5 white onions and placed on the lesser, seared a 10 lb brisket, and let it become for 9 hours on 250 degrees. I poured the juices in a skillet and added flour, table salt, garlic, and back pepper to make a gravy. Da Bomb
05/27/2011
I have been make a like recipe for 40 years. 3 lb brisket (non a flat, if possible); ane bottle Heinz Chili Sauce; ane 8 oz. bottle Catalina salad dressing; ii onions coarsely chopped on bottom; 1 cup dry red vino - NO OTHER SEASONINGS NEEDED! People know me past this brisket recipe - sauce needs no thickening. Left over sauce can be frozen and reused to cook tiny meatballs served over egg noodles or rice!
03/09/2010
This was our New Years Day Dinner. 100% great--added halved sweet onions to the base of operations of the crock-pot and they were soooo yummy afterward cooking. Had to exercise it on the high setting which fabricated the meat arroyo dryness. I'g sure it's perfect when yous have time to practise information technology on depression.
06/fourteen/2009
Seriously, surprisingly expert for something so elementary! I've even tried this w/ a basic cut of roast & it was even so fantastic. I only rated it 4 stars on account of the sodium content & employ of pre-packaged ingredients, but I have to tell anybody: the cold leftovers on a sandwich the next day are almost even better!
03/27/2004
My hubby and I did not care for this recipe at all. It sounded so much ameliorate than it was. I made information technology exactly, including the 3lb. corned beef. I have non found a recipe I like better than the Guinness Corned Beef Recipe and that will be the one I continue to utilise. I will not exist cooking this one again.
03/26/2013
I tried this but added a quartered whole Castilian onion, baby mini carrots, sliced mushrooms and instead of the two 12 ounce bottles of chili sauce, I used Bulls Eye smoked bar-b-que sauce instead. WOW---what flavor. There was only two of us with the three lb brisket but--we FINISHED the entire thing in one meal. It WAS that good!! I was hoping for 2 meals out of it but we devoured the unabridged thing at dinner. The smoked bar-b-que sauce gave it a whole new twist. I made it both means, original recipe once and at present with the smoked bar-b-que sauce. From now on, only the smoked bar-b-que way!!! You must endeavour this manner one time.
02/07/2012
I wish I could non even requite this one star. This was the worst crock pot recipe I have always come up beyond. Followed information technology to a T and had to throw it out and open up the doors to air out the apartment every bit the scent was and then vile and no, it did not burn. I am glad people have been successful with information technology just I practise non know how. I employ my crockpot at least 3x a week and this is the worst recipe I have ever made......bar none.
08/xiv/2009
my boys loved this. it was and so like shooting fish in a barrel and so tender. leftovers were awesome. the sauce was and so tasty. i would add a bit more than liguid at the first.
12/17/2008
The flavor of this brisket was absolutely magical! I was amazed that the prep took less than 4 minutes. I made sure to buy a first cut (or flat cutting) brisket, non the point cut. I added chopped onion on the bottom of the pot, put in the meat fat side upwards, allowing the meat to fold upwardly the sides of the pot, poured in the chili sauce mixture, so sprinkled 8 oz of sliced mushrooms on summit of the brisket. It was snowy outside, and the aroma fabricated our mouths h2o as it filled the house for 8 hours. Even my super-picky husband was begging for seconds. It probably could take used a tablespoon of brown carbohydrate to cut the tang, merely nosotros loved it as is. Give thanks you lot, Cousin David, for leaving us the gift of this astonishing dish.
04/27/2009
I thought my brisket was going to come out bland similar others accept in the past, just this was awesome!
10/12/2009
I didn't have the chili sauce, so I used someone elses addition of worchestire and mustard to ketchup. Yummy! My hubby took some to work they loved it and my daughter as well loved it!
01/24/2006
Well, in a give-and-take...ick. The meat was nice and tender, simply the chili sauce is kinda nasty. We wound upward drowning it in bbq sauce. Adjacent time nosotros volition simply use bbq sauce instead of chili sauce. *Had to come back and edit my review to add that afterwards eating this last nighttime, I was upward all night throwing upward. WON'T be having this 1 again.
06/30/2011
This may be my new favorite brisket recipe. I used the ketchup, worchestershire sauce and dry mustard replacement for the chili sauce every bit suggested past one other reviewer, and I added some Sriracha Asian chili sauce for some heat. Terrific!
12/07/2012
Delicious brisket, my wife and i thoroughly enjoyed. From a brusque time afterward it started cooking the odour was amazing. I did not modify recipe at all.
07/06/2006
ok....nothing special for us
06/05/2008
I was so happy to see this recipe-- considering I was looking to make my grandmother's brisket recipe (almost identical to this one- with the Heinz Chili Sauce) but I wanted to make it in a irksome cooker, which I had never done. Omigod- it came out and then much better than I had always made it in the past... and I didn't accept to go on basting it every hour, I didn't fifty-fifty touch it for xi hours and it was so tender and astonishing. My changes were-- since I am temporarily living in Australia had to make my own Heinz chili sauce-- got recipe from http://www.recipezaar.com/192123-- then did non add onion soup mix, and added a lot of kind of thick sliced onion under the brisket and on elevation. It came out so amazing. Notation-- the brisket was so big I had to fold it up the sides of the crockpot-- but information technology shrunk then much it was perfect. I'll never make brisket in the oven again! I served it with a sweet potato casserole which was mashed sweet potatoes topped with marshmallows and sweetened flaked kokosnoot and baked.
12/12/2009
Great sometime recipe. If you can find information technology, use Bennett's chili sauce...it makes a BIG difference. I like a thicker sauce, so at the end I cheat and stir in a package of brown gravy sauce into which I take stirred in a little water to make a loose paste. Anybody loves this recipe !!!
11/08/2010
This was good but a little too ketcup smelling, one-half manner through cooking I tried to salvage it with Worcestershire sauce, and basis pepper and onion/garlic powder. The sauce was a piffling oily for my taste likewise.
02/12/2012
Yummy, and it's not BBQ flavour, which is good because I was worried it would plow out just like any other BBQ recipe and I needed something different. I followed it almost exactly, same ingredients just I had to cut the measurements because I merely had a one.13 lb well trimmed piece if brisket and 1 jar of chili sauce. Since it's only my husband and I we don't need 3lbs of meat and I was non going out to buy more, especially since it was already one:00 and I just decided to make it. And then I used the 1.13 lbs, 1 jar of chili sauce, one-half of the 1oz onion soup mix, & one teaspoon of garlic pulverization (I basically halved everything, even though I was using one/3 proportion of the meat called for in the recipe and I cutting the cook time too). I cooked on low for 3 hours and information technology came out wonderfully and only in time for dinner! Plenty of sauce to apply over the meat and over the mashed potatoes (highly reccomend mashed potatoes with this). Use any side veggie you want (green beans were good). The sauce was non likewise thin, it wasn't thick. I took someone'south recommendation and crude cut 1 onion (chunks not slices) and put them on the bottom, then the brisket, and so poured the sauce over information technology. Some people'southward reviews said information technology was also tangy or too salty or also sweet, everyone has different taste buds but to us it was perfect. Also you Accept to use plainly brisket not the kind used to make corn beef, they are not the same and would ruin this recipe. I will proceed and utilize this recipe once more.
01/x/2010
Okay so I dear my slow cooker and this recipe was great for it! Start off my husband and I are from the south and we love for our food to have flavor. This recipe has it! Only we also experimented. I couldn't observe the Hinez Chili sauce, so we used shop brand sweetness chili sauce. I added sliced onions to the bottom of the crockpot like someone reccommended in a review. Besides, I added hot sauce, chili powder, and cheyenne powder. We beloved spicy food and this just kicked the flavor to a whole other level! Information technology was Astonishing!! My husband couldn't go enough and ate on it all week bc I cooked and then much.
03/03/2011
I have not tasted it all the same, however, my wife bank check on it while in the slow cooker. She called me at piece of work and told me I will be making this i once more Ha! Ha! Thank-yous Cousin David, may y'all RIP.
07/08/2008
Truly awesome!! Couldn't be easier...put information technology on at 9am & information technology was falling apart tender at 6pm. I did put two sliced onions under the brisket & since I only had one bottle of chili sauce in the pantry. I threw in a can of beer. I really don't know how yous tin can mess this up. Thanks for an great recipe.
09/02/2011
This was delicious as is - only use Chili sauce equally other reviewers have said. Made for great leftovers, my kids loved it.
03/09/2011
Not bad, but a little likewise tangy for united states of america. Perchance only one bottle of chili sauce should be used? With a little brown sugar to balance it?
12/25/2009
Simple and succulent. Only, after 8 hours on low, the meat only barbarous apart. In that location was no way we could slice it! Side by side time, I'll cook information technology for half the time, remove it from the slow cooker and slice information technology, then render it for the remainder of fourth dimension. Meanwhile, we're enjoying our "shredded beef brisket!"
01/29/2012
The longer I cooked it, the better it got. Not bad flavour, so simple my 3 twelvemonth old could practise it, and a great, great time saver. Delicious!
03/11/2011
If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! This was and then like shooting fish in a barrel and practiced, we were speechless (scarfing the brisket of course)! We tried this for the first time today and ... wow. Just wow. I have to acknowledge, I changed i little thing, only on preference - I used a dry out veggie soup packet instead of onion because my family is not crazy well-nigh onions as well much. Just information technology'south the chili sauce that makes this dish, and I think information technology would piece of work with anyone'south favorite soup flavour. We cooked information technology in the slow cooker on low for the full 10 hours and it came out so moist and pull-apart that we just needed a fork to cut it. The sauce from the cooker drizzled over the meat was the icing on the cake. Non to mention how bully it smelled cooking all mean solar day! I'm positive we volition be making this one over and over. Thank you lot for sharing with all of u.s.!
02/19/2011
great!
12/12/2009
Institute this somewhere months ago and nosotros loved it. Now, I am off to market place and get the makings to do tomorrow.
01/05/2011
Overall gustation was okay, just the meat was a petty dry. Volition try once again, simply non cook every bit long.
09/19/2010
This was my first endeavour at brisket. I followed the recipe to the letter. It came out so tender and the sauce was bully! The only thing I desire to change is to get a bigger crockpot and bigger cutting of meat!! Thanks for sharing this recipe!
07/twenty/2009
I prepared exactly as listed. Although the brisket was tender, I removed the brisket and discarded all of the sauce. I added a good BBQ sauce, chopped the brisket and served over hamburger buns in order to relieve the meat. I will proceed to utilize my old tried and true recipe.
03/27/2004
1 of the easiest and tastiest brisket recipes I have ever tried.
12/16/2009
not certain what happened - but this was not good. I cooked it as directed, but information technology seemed burned or something. the sauce was expert, but i couldn't become that slighlty burned flavour our of my pallet.
08/14/2010
I made this recipe final nighttime and it was SO Easy. All of my dinner guests enjoyed it just I would take liked for the meat to be more tender (eastward.g. falling off the bone five. just tender and juicy). I also put in onions and mushrooms - they were phenomenal tasting! If I make this once more I volition definitely put in more vegetables. Overall information technology's an easy recipe that is very tasty. However, I'yard still going to keep on searching for an amazing brisket recipe.
12/xxx/2010
Definitely loved the texture of the meat; melted in my rima oris! Still, like about of the other reviews, if I make this over again, i'll probably cut it down to 1 bottle of chili sauce and maybe half a bundle of the onion soup mix to make it less salty. Squeamish to try though!
09/09/2011
Tasted wonderful! Everyone loved the brisket served with garlic mashed potatoes. Made gravy by straining the liquid and the stirring in some flour. The next twenty-four hours, we had the leftovers as sandwiches. Even better the second day.
01/05/2012
Wasn't too sure how this was going to turn out. Information technology was my first time using a crock pot and also the start time making a beefiness brisket. I figured with the elementary ingredients, it couldn't hurt to try information technology. I added a cup of soda to the ingredients because I thought the sauce was too thick and information technology fabricated a big difference. My hubby who was trained at a top culinary schoolhouse and is at present an executive chef loved it! and wondered where I had gotten the recipe. Information technology'south withal my petty secret. ;-)
11/29/2011
Decent but too salty for me.
08/09/2011
This is a great, easy recipe. I did a few modifications-used i & 1/2 bottles of chili sauce & a quarter cup of cherry wine.Browned the meat 1st, browned onion and 1 red/i green pepper and garlic. Meat on elevation of veggies, topped with sauce. Poured gravy through OXO strainer, blended cooked veggies & mixed west/the gravy-Yum!
12/31/2013
The chili sauce is way besides overpowering--
05/xix/2010
For the first time ever, I followed a recipe to a "T". Boy was this one a disappointment! Although extremely tender in that location was NO taste! The sauce was bland and I expected so much from the chili sauce (we are spicy kind of people). The meat soaked up but juice I judge but no season. This recipe volition Non exist a keeper for me!
01/25/2006
i thought this was splendid. i didn't have to slice information technology every bit it just kind of came apart (in a skillful style). i served information technology with rice, but i thought it would be better w/ boiled potatoes and cooked carrots.
01/02/2010
This recipe was so easy and so very good, added one thinly sliced onion, just followed the rest of the recipe excactly. Husband loved it ... so did I! Served with roast brussels sprouts from this site and broiled potatoes. Will definetely make once again, Thanks Cousin Dave!
02/28/2010
I loved the taste of the sauce equally information technology cooked. And the odour was incredible. I used but 1 bottle of the chili sauce. One reason was I've never used it before, ii my married man doesn't like things too love apple-ey. The meat was nifty simply I exercise take to agree with other reviewers that the sauce was too tangy once I put it on some egg noodles. I too think that side by side time at the last infinitesimal I will add some chocolate-brown suger and other things to make certain it isn't as well tangy. But all in all I really liked it and plan to make it over again with a few small-scale changes.
01/05/2010
This is a very delicious recipe, but I don't feel similar it'south good for a brisket - especially if you plan on putting information technology in a slow cooker. It ends up too soft. Almost all the photos that I've seen take them cut along the grain because that's how it falls apart. I think it makes a better roast than brisket. Still quite expert and uncomplicated.
04/10/2011
I did a slight variation because I only had one bottle of Heinz chili sauce. I used that and a jar of salsa, along with the other ingredients. Puts a little bell peppery kicking into the flavor. I have fabricated the recipe as is as well. And yeah, other reviewers are 100% correct-make sure yous are not using a corned beefiness brisket, and make sure you are using a ketchup based chili sauce, not a hot pepper sauce. Blessings on the family of Dave. What a sugariness tribute.
07/29/2007
This is one of the recipes my fiance and I turn to when we know we're going to have a long, decorated solar day and want to come dwelling house to comething comforting and succulent and EASY for dinner. We buy several briskets around St. Patrick's day when they're on sale and freeze them for yr-round eating. Nosotros love this recipe- the brisket comes out INCREDIBLY tender and although the thought of using all that chili sauce may seem daunting, it volition brand a succulent gravy to pour over your mashed potatoes! This recipe couldn't be easier, and once we got the basics down, nosotros tinkered with it, and so we've washed things similar rubbing the brisket with spicy chocolate-brown mustard before placing information technology in the irksome cooker, substituting asian chili garlic sauce for the chili sauce, etc. Every time it's come up out then tasty! This is i of the easiest "comfort foods" you'll always make- give it a try one time!
01/29/2010
Absolutely loved it, my first time making beef brisket! It turned out really tender, and smelled wonderfull cooking all day. I only cooked it in the slow cooker for about 5 hours. I added onions, and fresh garlic per other recommendations, can't wait to make it once more!
04/eleven/2012
Merely change, I always brownish the meat beginning..enhances the flavor of the meat 100%
12/13/2009
Cooked according to directions and it was outstanding! My kids said it was the best crockpot recipe I have made thus far.
08/xi/2011
I saw the mixed reviews on this but gave it a effort. This was beyond nasty and I cooked it only similar the receipe showed. My hubby agreed it was horrible. Made a good meal for the dogs since we couldn't finish it.
11/23/2010
I absolutely love this recipe. Although I suggest using only 1 bottle of chili sauce- I've fabricated the recipe a number of times with only one bottle, but second guessed myself this forenoon and added two bottles per the recipe. The meat came out way also tangy for my taste tonight- it was still OK, but I'm not excited most the leftovers similar I normally am.
09/30/2007
This was pretty good, but I ended up adding most 1/4 loving cup brown saccharide towards the end to annul the vinegary taste from the chili sauce. Peradventure it's considering I used store brand and not the Heinz brand chili sauce? I don't know. I cooked for 7 hours on low, then added the sugar and turned it to loftier for 1/two 60 minutes. By then, the meat was falling autonomously and so I couldn't slice it properly. We concluded upwardly eating shredded meat! It was very tasty and like shooting fish in a barrel to do.

I made this every bit a pot roast because I couldn't find brisket at the grocery store. The meat came out super soft and delicious (shredded, not cut), and I added simply a little cornstarch to the leftover sauce to brand a gravy. Proficient recipe, will make this once more for sure!

Very expert recipe. Cooked on depression for 9 hrs exactly past recipe, maybe adjacent fourth dimension only 8, still very tender. Whole family loved it. Will definately make again

I am making this tomorrow for the tertiary time. The meat gets and so tender, it melts in your oral cavity. I use mix fresh garlic with the chili sauce and soup mix and besides melt it with baby carrots and chunks of potato. The whole family loves it!

My only beef with this (pun intented) was that a beef brisket is kind of expensive and because information technology is and so lean, mine turned out a tad dry. Next time I'll use a chuck roast. The flavor was awesome! A squeamish change from my standard cr of mush and dry onion soup I unremarkably employ.

Don't know if this is a Canadian thing or non, only could not find brisket except Corned Beef which I knew not to purchase. Bought another cut, nicely marbled. The sauce/gravy was a bit too tangy for our liking. The meat sans sauce was quite dry. Going to use leftovers with chocolate-brown gravy instead. Tossed the chili sauce.

I decided to make this for a modest dinner party (my husband, myself and i other couple). I just had one bottle of chili sauce so I used it and and then filled the canteen with h2o and poured it in also. The smell! I could hardly stand to wait for dinner to taste. It was SOOOOOOOO worth the wait. The taste was incredible, the meat just fell apart and the praise I received was pretty wonderful too. I just kept to myself the fact that information technology was and so piece of cake to make. I can't believe the review that said it wasn't good. We loved it.

I really enjoyed it! Information technology was simple, and very flavorful. I used Heinz Chili sauce, only it had a flavor very similar to ketchup. My husband who doesn't similar ketchup would have preferred a different gravy, so next fourth dimension I might try information technology with one of the other sauce suggestions that others have posted.

I fabricated this brisket for Passover for my not-Jewish friends and family and EVERYONE raved about information technology! Even my friend'south iii year old son always asks if nosotros're having brisket whenever he comes over now! A+++ for any repast. Cheers cousin David!

Had only 1 bottle of chili sauce so added some BBQ every bit the second. The smells wafting from our kitchen all 24-hour interval were awesome. The brisket was wonderful even though I had a corned beefiness brisket. Will definitely endeavour this again without the cornning. Yes, it was salty, but the sauce was a hitting and today those leftovers volition become a pulled beef. Served with broiled potatoes and greenish salad. What a hit.

This was surprisingly fantastic. I was not sure of the chili sauce, but information technology added the right kick. The just modify I made was add a half bottle of stout beer because I thought the sauce might exist too thick, and it still was. next fourth dimension the whole bottle goes in. My husband loved it and I'll make this again and over again.

Just OK...tasted more like bbq than I expected, and since I like my current BBQ brisket recipe much better, I won't brand this over again. Non offensive, and it certainly is easy, but non practiced enough to justify the cost of ingredients. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent! Volition be making this once more. I did follow some of the pinnacle reviews ideas, past adding a large sliced onion, three carrots and two peeled potatoes into the sauce. I also added one-half tea spoon of footing pepper. I was a little hesitant, because I had never made a brisket earlier, only information technology turned out great and tender. I cooked it on high for five hours and an hour on depression. Served with black eyed peas and steamed Jasmine rice.

This was OK. I had not used chili sauce before, and bluntly I don't like information technology that much. If yous like chili sauce you would probably love this. In all fairness, I don't use brisket that oftentimes and in retrospect I think the one I used was as well lean,

I practice take to admit I was worried most making this because I take never fabricated a brisket before. I tried a savory garlic and herb soup instead of the onion soup mix and information technology came out delicious. I cooked it for 12 hours in the crock pot over night and I will definately be making this again.

Simple but bland. I've never used chili sauce before and then I was curious. Strong vinegar smell and the sauce was somewhat sweet. Only not our cup of tea I guess. I'chiliad glad I got my brisket on clearance. I recently made the "Oh And so Tender Brisket" recipe from this site and also very elementary but it was fabulous. Sorry Cousin David not for usa!

It was good, but my family didn't care for it. Won't make again. Sorry. It was very fast to make, and a skillful recipe for the working mom.
